07/2024

Dear members,

The European Event of the Year 2024 went off without a hitch. In the near future, you will find a special EEOTY page on our homepage where you can discover many pictures and impressions. Take a look at www.mgcarclub.lu.

Until then, you can discover all the pictures here – a big thank you again to our member Pierre Levy, who provided us with the download portal.

Our calendar of events is still well filled for the rest of the year, you can discover it below.

Historical Tour by Walter Schneider
Unfortunately, Walter Schneider’s Historical Tour has to be cancelled this year, but we are already looking forward to the 2025 edition.

Kniwweldag – 14 September
We are also offering a Kniwweldag in September – come and see what repairs are on the agenda this time.

Expo Robert Opron at CNVH Diekirch
On the weekend after that, on 22 September, we will be visiting the exhibition ‘The Tenderness of the Absolute’ at CNVH Diekirch, about car designer Robert Opron.

Economy Run
Tun has prepared a great tour for us again, you can find more information below.

EEOTY – Regalia
Last but not least, we still have some EEOTY backpacks to offer. You can see the pictures and how to order a backpack below at the end.

Until then, enjoy the last few beautiful days!

As every year, club members are invited to come and check their vehicles at the end of the season with the help of other members. This will take place at L-8826 Perlé, 2 rue des Champs at the Rommes place.

Food and drinks will be available on site.

Each participant should bring their own small tools and spare parts.

Registration: Please confirm your attendance at Kniwweldag with Sonia at mgsonia1970@gmail.com or via Whatsapp: 621 790 027. We will not be able to carry out major repairs, as our schedule is already quite full. For more information, please contact Sonia.

The MG Car Club is paying a visit to the CNVH in Diekirch! The retrospective of the work of Jean Opron is currently on display there.

Jean Opron was a French automobile designer best known for his work at Citroën. Opron had a great influence on automotive design in the 1960s and 1970s, and was known for his innovative design approaches, particularly for aerodynamics and the integration of modern technology into car design. After his time at Citroën, he worked at Renault, where he led the design of the Renault Fuego and the Renault 25.

Luc Keipes will guide us through the exhibition and tell us some interesting stories about the design of cars from the 60s and 70s.

We will meet at the CNVH in Diekirch at 11 am, with the option of having a bite to eat in Diekirch afterwards.

Register with Andy on 621 216 248 or andy.staff@mgcarclub.lu

The Economy Run is a permanent fixture in our calendar, and Tun Laschette is inviting us to this fuel-saving festival again this year.

The aim of the tour is to burn as little fuel as possible. At the end of the trip, the consumption of each vehicle is measured at a petrol station and a formula is used to calculate the consumption for the different MG types. There are separate classifications for classic and modern MG’s (but no separate classification for non-MG makes and for electric vehicles).

The tour will once again take place across Luxembourg. A short break is also planned.

We meet on Saturday, 5 October 2024 at 1 p.m. at the ARAL petrol station (36 Haaptstrooss, L-9835 HOSCHEID-DICKT). Departure between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

ARRIVAL is between 6 and 7 p.m. at the petrol station in Larochette. This is where the distance travelled and consumption will be checked.

The prize-giving for 2024 will take place in the pizzeria ‘Op der Millen’ between Larochette and Medernach.

Please indicate when registering whether you are only taking part in the excursion or whether you are also attending the dinner. Registration at Tun Laschette on: 621 786 555 or by e-mail: jlaschet@pt.lu by Monday, 30 September 2024 at the latest.

Contribution towards expenses per person: €5, to be paid on the day of the event. Please do not transfer the money, but bring it with you in cash.

We still have some #EEOTY backpacks left. These great picnic backpacks with the logo of the European Event can be yours for €28. Pay with Payconic using the code below, for more information contact Sonia!
