05/2025

Dear member,

The year is drawing to a close, and today we would like to invite you to our last event alongside the regular Noggin’ and Natters. We also have a preview of the Highland Games, as well as an update and the next dates in our event calendar.

Above all, however, you will find attached a call from our president to participate and collaborate in our board. We are looking for new board members. Would you like to help shape our club life? Then take a look at the attached letter and apply for one of the positions!

We also have information for you about the Highland Games 2026, as well as the registration form. Register as soon as possible!

This year, we will once again be meeting for our MG Sunday Breakfast!

This year’s date is Sunday, 30th November 2025.

The team at the Hotel Légère in Munsbach, Parc d’activité Syrdall, 11 rue Gabriel Lippmann, will prepare a sumptuous buffet for us with everything your heart desires.

We will meet at 10 a.m. in the restaurant, and the kitchen will stay open an extra hour for us until 1 p.m. We look forward to starting the day with you!

The price for this breakfast is approximately €30 per person (non-alcoholic drinks only); other drinks can of course be ordered, but must be paid for separately.

Please register with Andy Staff by email (andy.staff@mgcarclub.lu), by text/WhatsApp message +352 621 216 248 or in our Noggin’ and Natter WhatsApp group.

Highland Games organized by MG Car Club Luxembourg

The Highland Games were first organized in Eschdorf (L) by MG Car Club Luxembourg in 1987. Morgan and MG drivers competed against each other using more or less fair means to decide who would emerge victorious at the end of the weekend. From tug-of-war to crankshaft throwing and flywheel shooting, we also had a small converted Mini at the time. You had to drive backwards through an obstacle course. When you turned left, the car went right, and when you turned right, it went left. There were so many great moments.

The special performance in the evening was won by Morgan. They had put together an entire play with MG people. Almost all MG participants were on stage at the end of the performance. From the rising sun to the three fir trees swaying in the wind (I was one of the three fir trees myself), or the hare and the hunter, as well as clouds passing by… everything was there. Finally, the “moral of the story”: Here you can see how easily MG people can be made to look foolish. So, we were “somewhat” shown up by the Morgan Club…

Then there was also a relay drinking contest and a relay sprint with our cars. Many of these games are still played today, albeit in a slightly modified form, as we have all gotten a little older. The original battle between Morgan and MG was expanded years ago to include Morgan-Triumph and MG. And this year, we will even be competing against Austin Healey. May the best team win!

In 2026, Horst Pokroppa and his wife Bärbel (both of whom have been involved from the very beginning) are organizing the Highland Games in Hillesheim in the Eifel region. We hope for lively participation from the MG community. The registration form is attached. Book quickly to be sure of a place. You must book your hotel yourself. Registration for “the slightly different meeting” is now open.
